We are now seeking a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join this amazing school. You will play a crucial role in supporting students within both 1:1 and group settings, focusing on their individual learning needs and ensuring they have the resources and guidance required to succeed. You will be supporting students across various key stages, with particular attention to SEND students, who may have a range of educational needs, including autism, ADHD, or other learning and behavioral challenges.
This role is initially offered on a temporary, full-time basis (Monday to Friday) with the exciting opportunity to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate. Working hours align with the school day, and no weekend work is required.
Everyone employed by a school must have an upgraded DBS on file with the updating service. If you don't, we can help by providing you with a direct application link. An OSPC (Overseas Police Check) is required if you have worked abroad for more than six months in the last five years. All school environments will need to have these as a safeguarding measure.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide tailored support to students with SEND in 1:1 and group settings.
2. Assist students in understanding and completing classwork, fostering an inclusive learning environment.
3. Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and support each student’s unique needs.
4. Encourage and promote positive social interactions and behavior within the classroom.
5. Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.
6. Create a safe, supportive, and motivating atmosphere where students feel confident in their learning abilities.
The ideal candidate will be patient, compassionate, and resilient, with a strong commitment to helping students achieve their full potential. You should be adaptable and able to support students with a variety of needs, showing empathy and understanding.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience working with students in an educational or similar setting.
2. Experience supporting SEND students (e.g., students with autism, ADHD, or other learning and behavioral needs).
3. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
4. Proactive and flexible approach to supporting student learning and development.
Desirable:
1. Relevant qualifications or training in SEND support (e.g., CACHE Level 3, Teaching Assistant qualifications, or similar).
2. Familiarity with individual education plans (IEPs) and experience implementing them.
