I am currently recruiting for Platers for our client at their site in Govan on a permanent basis.
The client's shipbuilding business is growing, and we are recruiting platers to fabricate and install pipework systems and utilities.
Ideally, candidates need marine, heavy industry, or oil and gas backgrounds for this role.
What you'll be doing:
1. Interpreting engineering drawings
2. Marking-off materials
3. Plate preparation, using different methods, pressure testing, drilling, and lock fitting
4. Assembling of ship structures: shell, decks, bulkheads, frames, and longitudinal
5. Fit, fair, and tack weld steelwork using fairing aids
6. Fabrication of ship items: seats, ladders, false flooring, and panels
Skills and experience required for the role:
1. Trade Papers - apprenticeship
2. Current knowledge and experience in fabrication
3. Clear understanding of SHE risks and awareness
4. Background in major construction/manufacturing environment
Salary:
£37,318 (Shift allowance of 33% may be applicable)
Candidates will attend a trade test before receiving an offer, and if successful, will need to gain security clearance.
