Workflow and Production Manager

The Post:
Are you an organised individual with experience in workflow management? Are you ready to take a leading role in delivering an effective and efficient communications workflow for a national organisation?
As our Workflow and Production Manager, you'll be at the heart of our Communications team, ensuring that every project kicks off smoothly and runs like a well-oiled machine. You'll manage high volumes of work and make the most of our talented team's resources. Your role will be crucial in driving efficiency and effectiveness across all our communications initiatives.
As a Workflow and Production Manager you will:
• Oversee the workflow and production processes within the Communications team; manage incoming work requests collaborating closely with other team leads and providing a key point of contact for internal customers.
• Ensure the effective utilisation of resources across the Communications team to enable effective delivery and prioritisation of work.
• Develop systems and process to effectively manage work initiation and allocation across the team and enable status and performance reporting.
• Identify and implement best practices for workflow and production management.
• Lead the production services team, providing print, warehousing, logistics, translations and other formats services.
The Candidate:
You will have:
• A post-graduate degree in Marketing, Publishing, Communications or a related field.
• Demonstrable significant experience of product delivery across multiple products, ensuring high levels of quality and working in a customer focussed environment.
• Project management experience, with the ability to apply project management techniques proportionately to a complex and multiple set of projects and to support others in effective project management techniques.
• Proven experience of procurement, commissioning and managing external suppliers.
• A track record of managing budgets effectively and working to deliver value for money and maximise cost efficiencies.
• Proven skills in leading and motivating a team of staff to achieve results and provide an excellent customer-focused service.
• Formal line management experience including 1:1 coaching, annual appraisal, objective setting and personal development planning.
Location and Working Pattern:
The post is based in either Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Central Quay, Glasgow. We are currently hybrid working; therefore, you will be expected to spend time in both PHS offices as well as the option to work at home.
Please note that PHS will be relocating from Central Quay, Glasgow to Bothwell Street, Glasgow in 2025.
The work pattern for this post is Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.

During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
