About the job Job summary Whether you are starting out in your career, or you already have an administrative background and are looking for a change, our Administrative Officer role is an opportunity to join the Civil Service and deliver outputs for the benefit of the Army and Defence. The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army. Job description As an Administration Officer in the MOD supporting the Army, your main responsibilities will include: Engaging with a wide range of military and civilian stakeholders in an appropriate manner, including managing email correspondence. Communicating with colleagues/contractors/customers and others. Providing routine advice and guidance on matters related to your area of work. Use of bespoke IT systems (full training would be provided) Electronic file management and records maintenance, including data entry and data consolidation, ensuring all documentation is stored in the correct way, with the correct classification. Use of Microsoft Office 365 programmes (full training will be given) Other routine administrative tasks For this post: You will be working within RHQ (Regimental Head Quarters) at MCTC (Military Corrective Training Centre). MCTC is a detention centre for military personnel, the detainees we hold are either retained after their sentence and return to unit or they have been dismissed from service and will be released as a civilian upon completion of their sentence. A small number of detainees maybe sent to imprisonment which they will come to MCTC to be processed and then will be taken to HMP Chelmsford. The role within DUS (Detainee Under Sentence) Records is to oversee the Admissions and Releases of all detainees which involves sanity check of paperwork, processing, and archiving personal files. Liaising with outside agencies including civilian and military police service, Home Office and other government agencies and both military and civilian courts. Other tasks will include booking visit between units and detainees, managing and overseeing the discipline process of detainees, attending court hearings, trials, and sentencing.
