Job Title: Assembly Operative - Engineering
Location: County Durham
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Job Type: Full time (day-shift) Temporary to permanent
Salary: £11.89 per hour (Reviewed April 2025)
Hours: 38 per week
Key Responsibilities:
Component Assembly: Assemble various products from a variety of materials, primarily steel -based on engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. This may include sub-assemblies and final products.
Tool Use: Use basic hand tools, power tools, assemble parts and install components, ensuring proper fit and function.
Quality Control: Inspect parts and assemblies for defects, ensuring that they meet quality standards and specifications.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of assembly processes, materials used, and any quality checks performed. Follow assembly instructions and update any changes in the process as required.
Problem Solving: Identify and resolve assembly issues or defects, working with supervisors or engineers to find solutions.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, supervisors, and engineers to meet
Machine Operation: Operate basic machinery or equipment required in the assembly process,
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring that the workplace remains safe and organised at all times. Wear the necessary protective gear as required.
Material Handling: Assist with the preparation and handling of materials needed for assembly, ensuring that parts are organised and available when needed.
Heavy lifting: Be able to handle heavy steel products
Final Product Testing: Test assembled products for functionality, durability, and performance according to engineering guidelines and standards.
