As an Engineering Manager at Tillo you'll oversee the software development lifecycle and ensure quality, security, and innovation in Tillo's Engineering Team. You will also lead a team of software engineers, drive projects, mentor team members, and collaborate cross-functionally to align technical solutions with business objectives

We're looking for a proactive leader who will encompass software design, development, DevOps, commercial support, team management, security adherence, and operations oversight.
We’re the market leader in the UK and are active in a number of other markets including Europe, Australia and India. This year we will continue to expand our presence in the US as well as setting up operations in new countries
If successful, you will
* Lead the Team in software design, documentation, and development, ensuring adherence to high standards and best practices. Build and maintain a robust codebase, conducting code reviews and mentoring team members to uphold quality standards.
* Participate in the full development life cycle, from requirements to architecture, implementation, and verification. Develop new features and products to generate revenue. Contribute to the hands-on solution implementation. Help break complex features into user stories and tasks and provide estimates.
* Work with your team to ensure the solution is robust, secure, resource-optimised, and cost-effective. Resolve fundamental technical challenges that will enable consistent and efficient delivery. Be well-versed in multiple delivery methodologies and demonstrate an ability to adapt approaches to an organisation's culture and context.
* Represent the team's vision and timeline to other functions, translating business needs into a clearly prioritised roadmap. Demystify technical terms and expertly manage various stakeholders, including business unit leaders.
* Build out and assume responsibility for your engineering team, outlining correct topologies and engineering processes that encourage optimum productivity, i.e. velocity and frequent shipping, that will drive Tillo's further growth.
* Partner with the Product Manager to create a short- and long-term Product engineering vision. Build customer-focused products aligned with Tillo's expansion and growth ambitions.
* Provide DevOps support, monitoring and maintaining test and production environments to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
* Serve as the point of escalation for any platform-related issues, coordinating resolution efforts and communicating updates to relevant stakeholders.
* Support the sales and business development teams by attending client meetings and providing technical expertise.
* Lead recruitment efforts for direct reports and oversee other team members, supporting their training and personal development.
* Support security initiatives, including adherence to ISO 27001 standards, monitoring the Information Security Management System (ISMS), and implementing security controls.
* Participate in operations meetings as needed, providing second-line support and ensuring proper out-of-hours support coverage.
* Schedule and oversee the monitoring rota to ensure continuous monitoring and timely response to alerts.
About you
You're an experience leader, with a proven ability to scale cross-functional engineering teams, instilling engineering best practices and processes.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
* Strong domain experience from a scaled API-first business or managing engineering teams working within a well-scaled software business.
* Experience in scaling engineering teams based on a proven track record in attracting, inspiring, and retaining top talent.
* Excellent communication skills, with a low ego. Capable of motivating and energising both team members and peers.
* A strong product mindset and exceptional understanding of the customer.
* Proficiency in PHP and Laravel, with a strong foundation in object-oriented programming. Python a bonus.
* An understanding of the OWASP Top 10 and secure development principles.
* Dedication to keeping documentation up to date to ensure transparency and efficiency.
