Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the purpose of the role is to support production by developing and improving processes. To provide full process and quality engineering support with a focus on 'built-in quality' and process control as opposed to a final inspection culture.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Take accountability and responsibility for moulded components/overmoulded cables and ensure:
* Fast turnaround and corrective action for Process/Quality issues affecting production.
* Lead APQP activities for new product introductions, ensuring all necessary plans are in place to meet customer quality requirements.
* Develop and manage Control Plans, FMEA, and Process Flow Diagrams in line with APQP standards.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of APQP deliverables.
* Coordinate and prepare PPAP documentation for new products and process changes.
* Prepare and submit ISIR for new and modified parts to demonstrate compliance with customer specifications. Review and analyse ISIR data to identify any discrepancies and implement corrective actions as needed.
* Ensure timely submission of ISIRs to meet customer timelines and requirements.
* Ensure, in conjunction with other engineering functions, that all new products or updated tools for moulded components are verified as production-ready prior to production release, including all aspects such as design updates, cost, manufacturability, process capability, etc.
* Support tool design for new and legacy products, reviewing suitability for manufacture. Be able to update tool designs and drawings in CAD software as needed.
* Support the production of new and legacy products being manufactured in the mould shop and take direct responsibility for updating routings, manufacturing and process instructions/tooling, etc., to align with the best method of manufacture.
* Support the mould shop production area and take ownership for the closeout of process issues raised to support customer delivery and/or improve processes.
* Analyse NRFT data to focus on areas that require process improvement.
* Ensure the mould shop area is supported on current and legacy products.
* This will be assessed through QCD measures linked to SPEED, typically focusing on cost reduction in processes driving lower labour costs and/or reduced defect/NRFT rates, lead-time reduction, etc., plus problem closeout time and effectiveness.
* Carry out a review and take ownership for the implementation of root cause fixes and complete closeout on all customer concerns (both internal and external) for the designated area and engage directly with the end customer as required.
* Lead initiatives aimed at reducing defects and improving overall product quality.
* Analyse quality data and trends to identify areas for improvement.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.
* Carry out other duties that may be reasonably requested.
