As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant (Mental Health TA), you will work closely with students who may experience anxiety, stress, or emotional difficulties. You will provide guidance, encouragement, and tailored support to help them engage with their education and develop confidence in their abilities.
What you have to do as a Mental Health TA:
* Provide emotional and academic support to students experiencing mental health challenges.
* Work one-to-one or in small groups to help students build resilience and coping strategies.
* Assist teachers in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* Encourage students to develop self-confidence, independence, and engagement in learning.
* Help implement strategies to manage behaviour and promote positive well-being.
* Monitor student progress and communicate with staff to provide tailored support.
* Foster a safe and supportive atmosphere for students to express their feelings and concerns.
Requirements for a Mental Health Teaching Assistant (Mental Health TA):
* Experience in a similar role, such as Mental Health Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Mental Health Support Worker, Youth Worker, or Pastoral Support is desirable.
* CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare.
* A degree in Education, Psychology or in a similar field.
* A strong understanding of mental health and well-being in young people.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to student support.
* Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

* Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
* Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
