An exciting opportunity has arisen on Ward 6 at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital. We require one hca to join our team. Ward 6 is an innovative and forward thinking, 19 bedded Acute Elderly Admissions Ward.
We are looking for experienced candidates who have a commitment to ensuring safe and high-quality care is delivered to our patients, as well as being a role model and supporting other members of the MDT.
On Ward 6 there is a strong focus on multidisciplinary team working, to ensure safe and timely patient discharges or transfers to appropriate care settings.
You will be expected to work as part of a dynamic nursing team, delivering all aspects of care to patients and have excellent communication skills. Previous experience in a similar setting is desirable, but not essential. These posts will be rotational between day/night shift and cover seven days a week.
The main purpose of the role is to plan, implement and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the multidisciplinary team under the supervision of the nurses and the ward manager.
• To assist the qualified nursing staff in the delivery of high quality direct and indirect patient care
• To provide assistance and support to patients, carers and the multi-disciplinary team
• To maintain high clinical standards
• To help maintain a clean and safe ward environment

• To assist the qualified nurses in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care.
• To give basic nursing care, e.g.; assistance with personal hygiene, eating and drinking, mobility needs, washing under direct or indirect supervision. Monitor patients’ observations and vital signs including fluid balance
• To report accurately perceived changes in a patient’s manner, observation, eating habits etc.
• To promote health within the ward setting.
• Organises own day to day work tasks or activities under supervision of qualified staff
• Able to respond to the changing needs of patients and ward routines.
