Chorley and South Ribbles Children & Young People Mental Health service are currently looking to recruit a full time Band 4 ADHD Assistant Practitioner. We are looking for someone with experience of working with children & young people with emotional health difficulties with NVQ Level 4 or HND qualification in Young people, Community, Health, Education or Social Services or equivalent (Level 3 will be considered if the individual has considerable practical experience) to join our multidisciplinary team.
You will be part of an established CYPMH ADHD Nurse led service, working with children, young people (up to the age of 18) and their families; to support management of child or young person's diagnosis. This role may develop into a wider assistant practitioner within the core CYPMH service after approx 12 months.
We are committed to ongoing continuous professional development of our staff and as a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to be involved in various training initiatives, including CYP 'Improving access to psychological therapies' project.
Main duties of the job
* To work within a systemic and holistic framework undertaking needs led and evidence based assessments within the ADHD Nurse Led Service.
* To work with children, young people, parents, carers and schools in a variety of ways to help support management of child or young person's diagnosis.
* Develop good working relationships with children/families/partner agencies/schools.
* Be aware of the needs of relatives and carers, giving them advice and support when necessary.
* To liaise with other professionals in order that the child and family/carers receive an integrated multi-agency approach.
* To participate in the monitoring, research and evaluation of the ADHD Nurse Led Service.
* To actively contribute to the implementation of the safeguarding agenda within the service, in partnership with the Lancashire Care Safeguarding Team.
* This is a full-time role that will be reviewed at a period of 12 months. At which point it has the potential to become assistant practitioner as part of our core CYPMH service.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 4 or HND qualification in Young people, Community, Health, Education or Social Services OR equivalent (NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care with considerable evidence of working with Children & Young people)
* Additional further training or experience in CYPMH
Knowledge
* Good knowledge of legislation, acts and developments relevant to the field of children and mental health
* Understanding of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Experience
* Evidence of ability to manage own workload under the direction of supervisors
* Evidenced ability to work autonomously and as a member of the multi-disciplinary team
* Experience in working with children with mental health problems
* Experience working in a care role within the community
Skills
* Demonstrates the ability to meet the essential travel requirements of this post
