Waystone’s Group Internal Audit’s objective is to consistently assess the adequacy and effectiveness of governance and management of risks, giving an evidence-based opinion on all aspects of governance, risk management and internal controls. The role plays a supporting role to the Group Head of Internal Audit. Holding a position in the third Line of Defense, Internal Audit will perform risk based audit testing on Waystone entities. This role will be responsible for performing testing indicated on the Internal Audit Program as agreed. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Internal Audit Function Working with the Group Head of Internal Audit to · Implement the Internal Audit Framework including governance documentation, framework, processes and procedures · Recruit the Internal Audit Team and conduct ongoing assessments of the Internal Audit Team's capacity and capabilities, adjusting resources as necessary to accommodate delivery of the internal audit program. · Develop the 3 year Audit Plan to completion including an annual revalidation of the current year, to ensure that risks remain relevant and priority levels are the same · Plan and execute audit engagements properly and adequately document the testing from audit planning to report delivery. · Provide periodic and consistent Board reporting to the Waystone entities and support the Group Head of Internal Audit in the reporting to the TopCo Audit & Tax Committee · Develop and set Team’s objectives and identification of metrics to track performance of the team · Assist in bespoke investigations/reviews as requested by Waystone Group Board Internal Audit Execution · Proactive stakeholder engagement to expound, detail and comprehensively train key stakeholders on the Internal Audit Program/Framework, · Ensures that Internal Audit Plan/Tests/Reports are properly and adequately documented and agreed with relevant stakeholders and align with jurisdictional nuances, · Keeps the auditee updated on the status of the audits and observations noted during the course of testing · Approves Internal Audit Reports and presents same to all relevant governance fora (Boards, Committees etc.) · Monitors and reports on follow-up action plans for corrective actions relating to audit findings or findings arising from other reviews. Leadership and Management · Assist in recruitment, orientation and training of new employees · Perform workstream planning, people management, evaluation processes etc. will be needed. · Development of a proper professional development to monitor the teams progress and performance; · Agrees with direct reports on objectives and a professional development plan for measuring performance; · Approves work allocation to ensure team assignments based on requisite knowledge, skills and other competencies required to complete the audit testing, Stakeholder Management · Engage proactively with stakeholders to explain, detail, and comprehensively train key senior management stakeholders on the Internal Audit Program/Framework. · Foster collaboration with senior management to ensure Internal Audit needs are understood and met. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight · Ensure that the organisation is following internal policies and relevant external regulations. · Stay up-to-date on the latest developments in auditing standards, risk management, and compliance regulations. Advisory Role · Responsible for updating knowledge base and skills required for the execution of the internal audit tests on regular basis. · Provides appropriate instructions and guidelines during the execution of the audit assignment to achieve the audit objectives, · Resolves issues with the Waystone Entity, Business Line or Function under testing. General Experience · Experience in (i) risk assessment (ii) control & risk evaluation, and (iii) reporting. Ability to understand and assess the robustness of controls governing business processes. Qualifications · An internationally recognised professional qualification or bachelor’s degree or significant experience in risk, compliance, audit or operations-based control function. · Industry qualifications – CISA, CIIA or recognised accountancy qualification · Extensive experience with proven path of advancement. Financial Services sector experience will be highly desirable. · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. · Excellent people management skills, and the ability to balance competing deadlines and stakeholders · Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to successfully influence people at all levels of the Waystone Group.
