An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated Band 7 Team Leader in Emergency Theatres at the Leicester Royal Infirmary!
Emergency Theatres are a busy and integral service for patients and this is an incredibly exciting opportunity to become a part of the management team.
The successful applicant will lead a highly skilled group of theatre practitioners and theatre support staff whilst liaising with the operational team and the wider organisation, to facilitate a high quality, safe and productive service for our service users. You will be responsible for Emergency and Urgent theatre alongside the current team leader.
The successful candidate will need to be organised, dynamic, hardworking and enthusiastic, with a willingness to lead from the front. A secondment may be considered.

Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for setting the standards and supporting your team to deliver these, sharing the Trust’s values and ambitions, with the patient’s safety and experience at the forefront of what you do.
You will also undertake the role of floor control, coordinating theatre activity to cover 24/7 service delivery and providing a direct line of contact for wider site and Trust wide actions.
Provide direction, effective and inspirational leadership to all members of the multidisciplinary team within the area for which they are accountable.
Act as an expert clinical practitioner providing through themselves and their theatre team, an excellent quality of care to patients and service users.
Act as a clinical and managerial role model within the theatre team, CMG and across the wider organisation/Division.
Take responsibility for the provision of a supportive learning environment for all students on placement and newly appointed staff within the theatre for which they are responsible.
Practice clinically in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for a defined caseload. This will determine that the Team Leader is theatre based and practices clinically at least 80% of their working time or as negotiated with the Divisional head of Nursing/Lead Nurse and Matron.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Support and develop new ways of working and new role developments.
Find as far as reasonably possible creative financial solutions to expenditure problems and ideas for developments contributing to business planning.
Actively engage in the Trust's selection, recruitment and retention strategies.
Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times and information relating to patient/users and personnel is used only in connection with authorised duties.
Use health-related information only for the purposes of what it is intended for and in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Support the Matron to manage their Team of staff, taking responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of the Teams across your designated theatres.
Line manage the team, ensuring that all aspects of performance, attendance, training, sickness absence and appraisals are addressed in accordance with Trust Policies.
Have evidence of attending and contributing to regular Team meetings.
Mobilise staff cross-site to gain additional skills and work collaboratively with other Band 7 staff to deliver services to patients at all sites.
Show positive and strong leadership in times of change or crisis.
Act in a professional manner and ensure self and ward/Department staff adhere to the UHL Uniform policy at all times.

Person specification
Training and Qualifications
* Degree in Nursing or equivalent Health related subject.
* Recent experience supporting learners.
* Clinical leadership program.
* Recognised NMC/HCPC teaching and assessing qualification.
Experience
* Evidence of extensive post-registration experience with additional years in deputy position in clinical environment.
* Demonstrates high level of clinical expertise.
* Good understanding of quality, safety and risk management.
Communication and Relationships
* Ability to lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary team.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Participates in formal and informal teaching.
* Acts as a clinical role model and support for learners in the area.
Planning and Organisation
* Ability to prioritise.
* Evidence of successful change management.
Skills
* Can analyse activity data and plans workforce accordingly.
* In-depth knowledge of all aspects of theatre processes and patient care and awareness of recent advances in clinical practice.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
Please note if you are successful in obtaining this position and the post involves regulated activity you will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service check.
The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three-month period commencing on your first month's payment.
The current price of a check is £38 for an enhanced and £18 for a standard check.
