About the Role
We currently have an exciting new opportunity within Trafford to enhance and further develop participation and engagement opportunities for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in the borough.
As the SEND participation and engagement officer, you will develop opportunities for direct delivery of and engagement with young people in addition to working with other teams within the council to promote the development of young people voice. We are looking for an individual with a passion and commitment to working with young people with SEND needs who is able to undertake direct delivery and work with other services to support and develop their engagement with young people with SEND.
About you
You will have excellent communication skills and be able to engage young people with a range of communication needs and in a variety of ways. You will be enthusiastic about the rights of young people to fully participate in the decisions that affect them and be passionate about their contribution. You will be calm in your approach and be able to manage a range of young people needs. You will be able to advocate for young people and champion their rights across a range of key stakeholder groups. You will have experience of working directly with children and young people with SEND and have an understanding of the issues that impact upon them.

Additional Information
Flexibility will be required to work outside core hours and there will be a requirement to work some weekends and evenings.
An enhanced DBS check will be required.
You will have flexibility in terms of hybrid working, though much of the delivery will need to be face to face.
