Job Summary: Federal Prison Industries (UNICOR) is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Consultant to drive the growth of the agency by identifying and developing new business opportunities. The consultant will work to expand UNICOR's offerings in product/service categories such as Clothing and Textiles, Electronics, Fleet, Industrial Products, Office Furniture, Recycling, and Services. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in business development and a proven track record in both the private and government sectors.
Job Location: Remote position with no on-site work required.
Work Schedule: 900-1,100 hours of work annually, averaging 18-22 hours per week.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 4 years of experience in business development, with a focus on identifying and developing new business opportunities for private and/or government sectors.
2. In-depth knowledge of the sales process and ability to meet target goals, including qualified leads, deals identified, and conversions.
3. Proven ability to conduct market research, gather competitive intelligence, and provide actionable insights to support sales growth.
4. Experience with digital marketing strategies, CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce), and AI software for market research.
5. U.S. Citizenship is required.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain a customized Target Company Prospect List (TCPL) of approximately 2,500 companies in UNICOR's target sectors using industry-leading datasets and technology.
2. Utilize AI and Intelligence Software (such as Gazelle) for market research to identify corporate growth signals.
3. Create and manage a digital marketing strategy to promote UNICOR’s products and services across various platforms, including LinkedIn.
4. Engage with industry and trade associations, business networking groups, and economic development officials to expand UNICOR’s business opportunities.
5. Generate high-quality leads and schedule 100-125 meetings annually with qualified prospects.
