Full Time - Medicines Optimisation Pharmacist - Band 8a
The post holder will be a Medicines Optimisation Pharmacist working in the East Surrey Place of Surrey Heartlands ICB, supporting GP practices in or around the towns of Reigate, Oxted, Horley and Lingfield. East Surrey Place has a population of approximately 199,000 and 13 GP practices working in 5 Primary Care Networks (PCNs). The Medicines Optimisation Team works closely with all GP practices to improve the quality, safety and cost-effectiveness of prescribing in primary care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for working with individual GP practices to support the delivery of both ICB and East Surrey Place objectives in relation to medicines optimisation. The post holder will also be expected to take responsibility for leading medicine optimisation related projects at both ICB and Place level.
We are looking for individuals who thrive on a challenge, with an understanding of the prescribing issues facing primary care. A wide range of experience and skills are required including excellent clinical, organisational, communication and report writing skills, sound IT skills and the ability to work both unsupervised and as part of a team. You will have a good appreciation of the medicines optimisation agenda and have the vision to develop innovative solutions. Previous experience of working with GPs or in primary care would be an advantage although not essential.
The majority of your time will be spent working remotely with some requirements to attend your office base and/or GP practices where appropriate within the East Surrey Place and occasionally within Surrey Heartlands.
A registered pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council, the post holder should have highly specialist knowledge acquired through an accredited diploma / MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or Pharmacy Practice (minimum 2-year university Diploma level) or equivalent demonstrable experience.

Person Specification
Training
* Registered pharmacist (BPharm / MPharm) with GPhC
* Highly Specialist knowledge acquired through a Post-graduate diploma / MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or Pharmacy Practice (minimum 2-year university Diploma level) or equivalent demonstrable experience
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Knowledge of the changing NHS environment and structures and associated policy
* Competent in the application of evidence-based medicine
* Competent with the concept of clinical governance and its application
* Sound knowledge of regulations governing medicines (including controlled drugs) and prescribable appliances
* Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS)
Skills
* Competent in using Microsoft Office packages such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint
* Ability to work with clinical systems e.g. EMIS SystmOne
* Strong communication skills (both written, verbal and presentation)

£53,755 to £60,504 a year, Per annum, Plus 5% High Cost area allowance.
