My client has a great opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support their expanding Watford, Herts based Painting division. (Don't be discouraged if you don't have painting experience; this is a 'nice to have' - a background in brickwork or plastering in terms of QS would be very transferable too for this role along with tendering, estimating, and refurbishments.)
£ v competitive + car or allowance £6,500 plus fuel card, Profit share this year looking around 10%, private health, pension, life etc.

The Quantity Surveyor role:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will actively tender, estimate and measure onsite. Therefore, you are fully involved from tendering and estimating through to final accounts, with the ability to have a real impact on our profitability and our commercial success.
1. Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting any risks.
2. Manage the pricing of tenders to maximise business wins and profitability.
3. Prepare cost value reconciliations for contracts, identifying commercial risks and opportunities to ensure correct contract planning.
4. Work closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure productivity targets are agreed and issued before contract start, including direct labour incentives and sub-contractor management.
5. Build strong client relations, to ensure any variations and progress of contracts are discussed.
What will you bring as a Quantity Surveyor?
1. You may be an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Surveyor, looking for the next chapter in your career.
2. The ability to demonstrate ownership of contracts, including estimating/tendering, cost control, CVR management through to final accounts.
3. You will be analytical, organised, and honest as well as being a genuine 'people person' who relishes in communicating effectively with clients, trade teams and immediate colleagues fostering a real 'working together' environment.
