Job summary
Are you an experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioner looking to make a real impact in a dynamic and fast-paced emergency setting? We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated ACP to join our Emergency Department (ED) team, working predominately within our Children's Emergency Department. Main duties of the job
* An established/qualified AP will deliver patient-centred care with a high degree of autonomy, independent assessment and clinical decision-making. They will practice in line with the NHS England's (formerly HEE) Multi-professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice (or other recognised service-specific credential), their primary professional regulatory body standards and their own scope of practice for the service/patient population.
The AP will be expected to practice across the four pillars of Advanced Practice: Clinical, Leadership and Management and Research. They will fulfil the expectations and capabilities outlined in the Multi-Professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice in England.
* The AP will have completed Masters Level study that maps to the four pillars. This will include physical assessment and non-medical prescribing modules if within the scope of the professional regulation. Job responsibilities
Clinical
Adheres to respective professional code of conduct and is responsible and accountable for their advanced practice. They will work within the boundaries of their own scope of practice and always manage associated clinical risk effectively.
Demonstrates a critical understanding of their advanced level of responsibility and autonomy, recognising the limits of their own competence and scope of practice, to include when working with complexity, risk or uncertainty.
Uses specialist knowledge and specific training to act autonomously in assessing, planning, and implementing a comprehensive management plan within their defined scope of practice.
Ability to elicit a patient history appropriate to the clinical situation, which will include, presenting complaint, history of the present illness, past medical history, social history, family history, medications, allergies, review of systems, risk factors and appropriate targeted history.
Competent in performing a physical examination tailored to the needs of the patients and the demands of the clinical situation, and formulate differential diagnosis.
Deliverers a high degree of proficiency and clinical acumen in relation to decision-making skills, to inform clinical reasoning approaches when dealing with differentiated and undifferentiated presentations and complex situations; synthesising information from multiple sources to make appropriate, evidence-based judgements and/or diagnoses, treating, discharging, referring to alternative specialities or escalating cares as required.
Demonstrate continual evaluation of the patients and use expertise to recommend adjustments/amendments to treatment plans, in consultation with the patient and members of the multi-professional team.
Make direct referrals to other members of the health care team. Education and Training

Person Specification
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential
* First-level degree (HEI Level 5 or 6) or equivalent in the undergraduate base profession
* NMC or HCPC registration
* Masters in Advanced Practice or equivalent, which maps across the 4 pillars
* Qualified as a non-medical prescriber (if able under professional registration)
* Evidence of continuing professional development. (including further level 7 modules that support practice)
* Accreditation as an Advanced Practitioner of willingness to work towards (including NHSE digital badge) or Royal College of Emergency Medicine ACP portfolio.
Desirable
* Post-graduate management and/or leadership training
* Qualification in teaching
EXPERIENCE
Essential
* Substantial post-registration experience and three years experience working at band 7 or equivalent.
* Experience in complex case management.
* Experience working independently at Advanced Practice level
* Excellent clinical acumen and practical procedural skills (with evidence of competency and capability) as an independent practitioner, as per Job Description for role
* Demonstrate an in depth knowledge and experience of clinical examination, history taking, pharmacology, pathophysiology, etc.
* Experience of instigating and interpreting investigations and initiating appropriate plans of care for patients.
* Experience of multi-agency / multi-disciplinary team working across service interfaces.
* Evidence of teaching and sharing knowledge with others in the MDT or externally to organisation.
