Were looking for a Senior Staff Nurse to join our brand-new, state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit (ITU) at The Harborne Hospital, our 4th NHS Joint Venture. Purpose built with both patients and colleagues in mind The Harborne Hospital is a 50 bed, multi-speciality, private hospital which combines deep clinical infrastructure with the exceptional technology and modern facilities HCA Healthcare UK (HCA UK) is known for. Our wide range of expertise allows us to deliver full clinical pathways at all levels of complexity across a mix of specialties and sub-specialties including Cardiology, Cancer and Complex Surgery.
Main duties of the job
As a Senior Staff Nurse on our ITU unit, youll play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the department. Well look to you as an expert in your field to support and mentor the wider team, using your in-depth clinical knowledge to guide and support them while also stepping up and leading the unit the absence of the Ward Manager. Its a varied role, one day you could be providing bespoke, complex care to a patient, the next overseeing the operation of the six bedded unit. Job responsibilities
As a Senior Staff Nurseworking in ITU, you will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate high standards of specialist care to ensure that our patients are cared for in a safe, compassionate and comfortable environment. This will include meeting physical, psychological and spiritual needs by effectively communicating with the patient, their families and your colleagues.
Duties & Responsibilities:
11. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to meet the patient and their familys needs
12. Responsible for planning and delivering appropriate care for admissions and discharges
13. Undertake extended roles such as venipuncture, cannulation and phlebotomy
14. Contributing to the ongoing research based care and other practice development initiatives
15. Working with junior staff and delegating and supervising the care in a fair and equitable manner
16. Recognising the signs and symptoms of a deteriorating patient and initiate early interventions in a calm and co-ordinated manner

Qualifications
Essential
17. Registered General Nurse with NMC pin
18. Cardiac or General ITU experience
19. Great interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of team
20. Care, compassion and empathy
21. Critical Care Course (60 credits)
