We are the independent charity that loves and looks after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world. The palaces are the setting for the stories that shape us all, and we’re bringing them to people in ways that mean more to them. We want everyone to find themselves in the spaces and stories we share.
Hampton Court Palace’s world-famous gardens, including 60 acres of spectacular formal gardens and 750 acres (304 hectares) of parkland, all set within a loop of the River Thames, play an important part in attracting visitors and are a big element of our plans for sustainability and biodiversity.
Position: Estate Ranger
As an Estate Ranger, your core responsibilities will be to undertake practical habitat management work, helping us to maintain the parkland and riverside areas of the estate. This includes:
1. Working with groups of staff and volunteers to repair and inspect site infrastructure.
2. Carrying out general maintenance and operating machinery.
3. Collecting and delivering materials for our busy event schedule.
4. Liaising with the wildlife officer and gardens management team to assist in protecting various species and their habitats.
5. Aiding surveys and keeping vigilant for illegal activities that threaten the wildlife and habitats of the estate.
The ideal candidates will have experience of working in a similar role and good customer service skills, alongside familiarity with health and safety and safe working practices. They will also be highly organised, with the ability to work independently and prioritise tasks when needed.
The role would suit a team player with a proactive and flexible approach to work, and enthusiasm and curiosity for nature, wildlife, and heritage.
A full, clean driving licence is essential.
