Personal Assistant to the Bursar and Clerk to the Governors
The Opportunity
Based in the beautiful setting of the Precincts of Canterbury Cathedral and St Augustine’s Abbey, a World Heritage Site, The King’s School is one of the oldest and most prestigious Schools in the country with an enviable record of academic excellence and achievement.
As the PA to The Bursar, you will provide essential support to ensure the Bursar can effectively manage both strategic planning and daily operations at The School. The Bursar’s office is a dynamic and fast-paced environment requiring a PA who is organised, proactive and adaptable ensuring it runs smoothly, so that The Bursar can make the most of their working time.
The role of PA will involve coordinating complex schedules, managing communications and serving as a key contact point for a wide range of internal and external stakeholders such as staff, heads, governors and parents. The role demands a high degree of professionalism, attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
The role will organise all aspects of The Bursar’s working life, including their role with external associations. This requires a laser-like focus on meeting deadlines and objectives, along with the ability to prioritise – understanding and taking into account the context of each new demand.
The only constant is constant change, both within the School and in the external environment. The breadth of the role mirrors that of the Bursar. Like them, you must be an energetic self-starter, able and willing to act on your own initiative. It is both a challenging but highly rewarding role!
The King’s School is committed to ensuring the highest levels of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils, and we expect all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We adopt a fair, robust and consistent recruitment process which is in line with the statutory Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. This includes online checks for shortlisted candidates.
All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, references, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check.
