What skills and experience we're looking for
Do you have a desire to work within a large pastoral team and develop strong relationships with students and their families? Are you ready for your next challenge? If the answer is yes, then joining our team of 5 Heads of Year, and working alongside our highly experienced and supportive wider team of student welfare and support, safeguarding, work related learning, character development and behaviour might be just the opportunity you are looking for! As one of our five Heads of Year, through energetic and innovative leadership, you will develop the ethos unique to your allocated year of approximately 275 students. You will be instrumental in delivering Myton’s core aims and ensure that students make outstanding progress by removing barriers to their personal, social or learning development.
You will need significant experience in building positive and trusting relationships with young people and be able to use a range of strategies to manage challenging behaviour and difficult situations, as well as the skills and confidence to communicate effectively with large audiences. You will also be an inspirational leader of others, able to enthuse and engage colleagues in a shared vision for, and culture of, improving achievement and also challenge and support colleagues appropriately.
As well as being academic, we are also highly inclusive and want all students to develop a love for learning. Our team are also looking to welcome a motivated teacher, with a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring students to love learning and excel. We have an extremely active staff wellbeing group who organise events and Teaching and Learning team who provide incentives for sharing best practice.
