Job Description
The purpose of an Operations Controller is to contribute to the success of the site by supporting the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuring that all schedules for inbound receipts and outbound loads are run efficiently, liaising with warehouse operatives, Shift Supervisors and Shift Managers to maintain a smooth flow of work throughout the shift.
Key Duties of an Operations Controller:
1. Efficiently managing the outbound schedule to ensure collection and delivery times are met.
2. Issuing instructions to designated staff to maintain a smooth flow of inbound and outbound work.
3. Controlling paperwork for outbound vehicles ensuring the accuracy.
4. Being the initial point of contact for all drivers arriving on site.
5. Communicating issues to Shift Manager in a timely manner to minimise disruption to the schedule.
6. Maintaining good communication with transport providers to ensure late collections and delivery failures are avoided.
7. Producing a thorough, detailed handover to the following shift highlighting potential issues, reminders and current state of play.
8. Participating as an active member of the operations team, and to offer suggestions for solving problems, improving efficiency, customer and quality focus.
Qualifications
As an Operations Cotnroller you will possess the following skill, experiences and qualifications:
9. Ability to prioritise work based on scheduling and available resources.
10. Able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
11. Must be a team player who is capable of working on their own initiative.
12. Able to work to deadlines.
13. PC Literate in Word, Excel and Outlook.
14. Should have good oral and written communication skills.
15. Excellent time management skills and ability to solve problems.
16. Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to network with suppliers, hauliers and customers.
