If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you We are looking for an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a well-established specialist campus in Bournemouth from April 2025. About the Campus This specialist campus provides tailored education for students aged 3 to 18 with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). They delivers a comprehensive curriculum from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) through to Post-16 education, ensuring students receive the support they need to thrive. The school fosters a calm and supportive environment, designed to meet the specific needs of its students. Facilities include quiet rooms, therapy suites, one-to-one speech and language rooms, immersive sensory spaces with adjustable lighting, interactive soft play areas, and secure outdoor breakout spaces. The school operates from 9.00 am to 3.30 pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Your Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your key responsibilities will include: Providing individualised support tailored to each student’s learning needs. Promoting emotional and social well-being within a safe and nurturing environment. Assisting teachers in creating inclusive learning experiences and tracking student progress. Encouraging student engagement through creative and adaptive teaching methods. Keeping accurate records of incidents, accidents, and safeguarding concerns. Working closely with specialists, such as speech and language therapists, to support student development. What We’re Looking For To excel in this role, you should: Have experience supporting children or adults with special needs. Be comfortable assisting with personal care, if required. Hold a minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent). Be adaptable and flexible, able to support different learning styles. Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a caring nature. Possess strong communication and listening skills. Remain calm under pressure, ensuring students feel supported and secure. Requirements An enhanced DBS check (as you will be working with children).
