An exciting full time, permanent opportunity has arisen to join the Event Exeter Team at the University of Exeter.
This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.
Summary of the role
Event Exeter is responsible for delivering commercial events in University of Exeter venues, by proactively targeting the business events and leisure tourism markets
During vacation, the University’s Streatham Campus is the largest seasonal residential hotel in the South West and is capable of hosting international residential conferences for up to 1500+ delegates.
The key focus of the role will be to identify, target and build relationships with new clients, with a view to generating business and exceeding income targets.
The Assistant Event Sales Manager will undertake market research linked to the sales strategy and identify business opportunities across all business areas. These include, but are not limited to, Concerts, Meetings, Bed & Breakfast, Group Travel, Summer Schools, Functions, Weddings, Residential Conferences, Student and University Promotions, in line with the University’s strategic objectives. Along side this you will be responsible for handling and converting enquires. The post holder will also be responsible for training and supporting the Sales team on a day-to-day basis.
First and foremost, the position will play a significant role in helping to position Exeter as a key Hospitality, Conferencing and Events destination in the South West of England, with the overarching aim of maximising income
Candidates will have the experience of working within a proactive commercial team environment. The role requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage and work closely with university stakeholders, external partners and clients. The successful candidate will be flexible, customer-focused and target driven and have a passion for working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
