ABOUT THE ROLE Oxford University Press is a department of the University of Oxford, which furthers the University’s objective of excellence in research, scholarship, and education by publishing worldwide. The Press’s Education Division provides educational resources and solutions to teachers, parents, learners and institutions in the UK and in countries around the world. We are seeking an experienced Head of Marketing to join our Product Marketing team in the Education UK division. This role is to direct the marketing strategy and revenue driving activity for the UK Primary and Early Years market sectors across all school, consumer and trade channels. You will define and deliver market leading customer propositions and take to market campaigns with maximum ROI – supporting the achievement of the UK’s strategic business goals, market share and revenue targets. This role is vital as we enter into a period of curriculum reform and look to maintain share and grow in maths, assessment and test practice. Key responsibilities in this role will include: MARKET STRATEGY AND PLANNING. Strategic marketing leadership for the market sectors, determining plans, propositions, and channel strategies to deliver our business objectives. To work in collaboration with Sales to ensure key customer groups, including MATs, as well as major 3rd party channels such as Amazon are integrated into the strategy. MARKETING DEPARTMENTAL LEADERSHIP. Leadership of the marketing teams, developing and communicating a strong marketing vision, identifying opportunities, and leading an integrated omni-channel strategy with dynamism and creativity. CUSTOMER INSIGHT AND DATA STRATEGY. Strategic accountability for the customer insight and data strategy, developing and implementing programmes to understand and act on customer insight, drive effective segmentation and targeting, and build and measure programmes to increase lifetime value and loyalty – in collaboration with Sales and the Digital Operations and Insights/MR team. DIGITAL PRODUCT EXPERIENCE STRATEGY. Key contributor to UK Education’s digital product experience strategy to ensure retention targets are met and that there is a coherent and holistic customer experience strategy for key brands. PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT. Build and lead a strong, high performing marketing team, motivating, performance managing, ensuring efficient and effective resourcing and capabilities in order to ensure successful delivery of the strategy. STRATEGIC LIAISON WITH INTERNAL/EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS. Responsible for initiating, negotiating and managing strategic partnerships to maximise marketing and opportunities. Strategic oversight of key partnerships across the UK business, as agreed. Builds strong, successful relationships with relevant OUP stakeholders across Education, other divisions, and central functions. PRODUCT BRAND STRATEGY. Ownership of the product brand strategy, ensuring we develop and present our product and portfolio brands in a coherent way that reflects customer and market needs and aligns with corporate brand guidelines. BUDGET MANAGEMENT. Strategic contribution to UK marketing budget and responsibility for proposing, directing, and managing the UK Primary & Early Years marketing budgets, allocating resources of time, people and money to maximise efficiency and to ensure that commercial objectives are met. We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office. ABOUT YOU To be successful in this role, you will ideally have: Experience in Senior/Marketing Leadership roles Experience of setting and leading business and marketing strategy Extensive team management experience with excellent leadership skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) Experience in managing a wide portfolio of projects and responsibilities Strong ability to act as a team player and foster a collaborative team environment Ability to think creatively and demonstrate effective problem-solving skills Influencing cross-functional stakeholders and managing external partners Ability to analyse and synthesize information to inform strategies and plans Experience of setting and managing divisional level budgets Knowledge of and experience in the education and/or publishing sector (desirable) BENEFITS We care about work/life balance here at OUP.
