Controls Deployment & Service (CDS) Engineers deliver and support data center building automation systems, such as Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS). CDS Engineers work to deploy and service building automation systems, to ensure the health of our data centers. As a CDS Engineer, you may oversee deployment of a new BMS or EPMS as part of a new data center build, deliver projects to upgrade an existing data center owned or leased by Amazon, or deliver projects to upgrade colocated data centers with Amazon hardware. As a CDS Engineer, you may also be required to provide local servicing expertise to our fleet or data centers in your region, and occasionally assist with global support. Successfully working as a CDS Engineer will also require you to partner effectively with the many teams at Amazon that make our data center deployments and operations a success, including Construction, Commissioning, Critical Projects, Data Center Operations, Procurement, Program Management, Design, and Engineering teams, as well as maintaining strong relationships with our vendors.
Key job responsibilities
1. Deployment of data center controls, on time, with effective management of vendors to ensure minimal defects at the point of Power and Facilities Hand-Off (PFHO)
2. Delivery of critical projects to upgrade data center automation
3. Service and support provided to partner teams, providing diagnosis and resolution of Loss of Visibility (LOV), Loss of Resilience (LOR), Large Scale Event (LSE), Critical Scale Event (CSE), and other operations impacting events
4. Resolution of tasks within predefined Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
5. Delivery of further initiatives to improve the efficiency of our data centers or our operations procedures

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. Control system integration: experience building, commissioning and delivering unified automated control systems for enterprise level clients
2. Experience in consolidating equipment and subsystems; hardware, software, networking products from multiple vendors, experience with proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers
3. Industry standard programming: Experience with PLC or SCADA programming, and scripted programming languages
4. Project management: experience with scoping, scheduling, cost management, vendor/sub-contractor management
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Critical environments experience: data centers (preferred) or other critical environments (defense, pharmaceutical, hospitals, research laboratories, oil and gas)
2. Electrical or mechanical controls systems experience
3. Controls construction or service experience in one or more of:
1. Controls system architecture design
2. Controls system installation
3. Controls quotation and procurement
4. Controls technology experience in one or more of:
1. Building Management Systems (BMS): Siemens: Apogee, Honeywell: Building Controls, Trend: Building Controls, Schneider Electric: Struxureware/EcoStruxure, Rockwell Automation: FactoryTalk, Tridium: Niagara, Johnson Controls: Metasys
2. Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS): Eaton: Foreseer, ABB: Decathlon, Schneider Electric: PowerLogic/Power Monitoring Expert, Inductive Automation: Ignition
3. Industrial Protocols: BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, OPC
5. Education and certification: B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline; Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2, or related project management certification
