Product Design Engineer

About the Position
Are you an experienced Product Design Engineer seeking a role where you can shape innovative solutions and influence new product development? This position, based in Bridgend, offers the opportunity to drive forward creative projects, refine product standards, and collaborate across teams to bring designs to life.
This role requires a proactive individual who can balance creativity with technical precision, working with both internal departments and external suppliers to ensure seamless project execution. You’ll have the chance to take ownership of your work while contributing to a broader strategic vision.
Main Responsibilities
Develop and manage detailed product specifications and design briefs for internal and external use.
Research and create product concepts, visualisations, and presentations.
Build precise 2D and 3D models using SolidWorks software.
Prepare accurate technical drawings and CAD files for manufacturing purposes.
Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure alignment and efficiency.
Generate high-quality product renders using Keyshot for use in marketing and sales materials.
Identify opportunities to enhance existing products and design new ones.
Participate in team discussions, project updates, and accountability meetings.
Contribute to refining internal processes to improve the New Product Development (NPD) workflow.
Key Metrics for Success
Deliver visuals for internal teams within 48 hours of request.
Produce 2D/3D models and supporting documents aligned with the NPD roadmap.
Consistently meet deadlines for NPD projects.
Skills and Experience Needed
At least five years’ experience in a product design or development role.
Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks (2D & 3D), Keyshot, and Adobe Illustrator.
Strong understanding of manufacturing techniques such as sheet metal fabrication, plastic injection moulding, and wood cabinetry.
A commercially aware approach with a focus on customer needs and continuous improvement.
Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
High-level competence in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Excellent organisational abilities with a keen eye for detail and multitasking capabilities.
A practical, solutions-focused mindset with knowledge of supply chain management.
