An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maternity Support Worker to support the Community and Continuity of Care Midwifery Teams predominantly in the community setting. You will be experienced in supporting maternity care, enthusiastic and caring, and must be able to work autonomously, demonstrating excellent clinical skills to provide women centred care. The role will involve working in the home setting as well as community hubs and the Seacombe birth centre to support midwifery services.
The successful candidates will be working within the midwifery team supporting midwives to ensure all women receive optimum care, implementation of care and a range of designated patient duties to include the recording of patient details/records.
The community midwifery teams at WUTH provides care to approximately 3100 women and their families in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period.
About the Role
The successful applicant/s will work between the continuity and community teams to support the delivery of maternity care and will involve weekend working.
There is a potential for the successful applicants to be required to cover the hospital area's for designated clinics and the ward areas. It will be in a shift pattern to include weekdays and weekends within core hours.

You should be able to work in a team as well as have the ability to work without direct supervision. Applicants must be car drivers and be willing to use their car for the role.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have a Enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 months.
As this vacancy is within the division of Womens and Childrens, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is £13 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust.
