CNC Machinist Setter / Operator / Programmer
Our well-known client based in Hitchin is looking for a CNC Machinist Programmer / Setter / Operator to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to progress within their engineering career.
Job Purpose Summary
This role is primarily responsible for the delivery of repeat conforming products as defined in accordance with agreed instructions in a timely manner that will best support OTIF delivery to the end customer. This includes helping to define processes, methods, best practices, programmes, tooling, and producing conforming products as defined in accordance with agreed instructions. Additionally, the role involves seeking approval for continuous improvement ideas and implementing them where approved.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
1. Manufacture and check conformance (before submission for first off) of ongoing production requirements.
2. Seek approval for and support continuous improvement ideas and implement them where approved.
3. Define, establish, and/or produce processes, methods, times, approval documentation, best practices, programmes, equipment, and tooling requirements for new jobs and/or requests for quotation enquiries.
4. Manufacture first off batches for First Article approval.
5. Establish first production parts up to delivery of FAIR and/or PPAP.
6. Support in establishing processes necessary for stable repeat production.
Communication
1. Communicate effectively with team and other staff as appropriate.
2. Provide appropriate information as required to help the business develop and improve.
Health & Safety
1. Always adhere to and follow safe working processes and company policies in accordance with the company’s Health & Safety Policy.

3. Promote and maintain good housekeeping practices.
Required Qualifications
1. Engineering Apprenticeship.
2. Programming experience of 2 years plus.
3. 5-Axis CNC Milling setting and operating experience.
4. Heidenhain experience or similar.
Desired Qualifications
1. Control systems – Heidenhain and FANUC.
2. Experience working with control plans.
3. 5S / Lean experience.
4. Aerospace industry knowledge and experience.
Rate
Up to £19.50 per hour - dependent on experience.
Hours
Monday to Thursday 6.30am to 4.30pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Some flexibility available.
