We are looking for a Practice Educator for our Renal Department within the haemodialysis unit. The successful applicant would support the education and training of health care support workers to become haemodialysis assistants. They would also help with the training of nurses across Eagle Acute and Haemodialysis. This will include:
* Promote high standards of care through the demonstration of clinical expertise,
* Helping mentor band 2's and band 3's through the apprentice scheme,
* Supporting newly qualified nurses to gain their competencies,
* Supporting nurses to become competent and confident in critical care levels 1 & 2,
* Working with staff nurses to develop into senior staff nurses,
* Leading the Renal foundation course,
* Co-ordinate clinical simulation within the wards,
* Support the ward managers when there are issues with performance management,
* Run study days and inductions on a regular basis,
* Ensure that staff are kept up to date in changes of practice and improvements in care.
Main duties of the job
Eagle ward is the largest paediatric renal unit in the UK with 14 acute inpatient beds and 10 haemodialysis day beds. The post holder will be expected to be a clinical expert in both areas with the passion to teach and support others to the same level, both clinically and academically.
We are therefore looking for an individual that has expertise in both in paediatric Renal care and education. They would also need a passion for education and development to help us ensure that we can maintain high standards of patient care.
