Main duties of the job
The post holder will join a substantive multi-disciplinary team and the successful candidate will be well supported working in a friendly, modern and well equipped unit and will be joining a trust with excellent professional and academic facilities. George Eliot Hospital is affiliated with the University of Warwick Medical School. In addition on the main hospital site there is also a first class modern education and conference facility in the George Eliot Training and Education Centre (GETEC), housing an excellent library and state of the art learning support facilities.

Job responsibilities
The appointee will be responsible for communication and liaison with other medical and service departments within the hospital and with general practitioners and other agencies, such as district nursing and Social Services.
The appointee will be expected to cover for absence of colleagues (including on call cover) at short notice, e.g. sickness. Cover outside the Rota requiring extra hours of work will be paid as additional work at nationally agreed rates and will be coordinated to be compliant with the relevant legislation.
It is expected that the post holder will play an active part in the training of junior medical staff. He/she will also be expected to supervise, educate and assist medical students.
The post holder should take an active part in clinical audit, journal club and departmental teaching sessions. Regular appraisals will occur and the post holder will be expected to take part in CPD.

Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge
* Broad clinical experience within General/ Acute Medicine
* Knowledge of medical audit, medical education, current clinical and medical best practice
* Undertaken complete audit cycle and participate in completed clinical research projects
Qualifications and Professional
* MRCP or MRCS for ST3
* ALS Certification
* Full GMC Registration with license to practice
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of a specialist service
* Ability to organise and participate in and evidence of teaching and training undergraduate and postgraduate students
* Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical practice
Personal Qualities
* Enquiring, critical approach to work with the ability to work within a multi-professional and multi-disciplinary framework
* Credible and persuasive presence both amongst clinical and management colleagues
