What you’ll be doing As the Group Head, you will ensure the successful delivery of chemistry, environment, and radiological protection workstreams in line with Pre-Operations and project milestones. This includes managing work schedules to ensure they are detailed, appropriately scoped, and on track. You will oversee budgets to ensure cost-effective delivery and support the team leads in identifying and mitigating key risks in their areas. A critical part of the role will be ensuring the team has the necessary capability and experience to meet project demands through to Commercial Operations. In addition, you will play a key role in fostering a strong Safety Culture across the organisation, collaborating with other Pre-Operations members to embed it effectively. You will oversee the production of key documentation, ensuring it meets required standards, and work with the Commercial team to develop procurement strategies for essential items. The role also involves ensuring the timely delivery of facilities that meet specifications and coordinating with project teams to manage the seamless transition from Construction to Operational arrangements. Who you are We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong understanding of Chemistry, Environment, and Radiological Protection requirements on a nuclear licensed site. You will have a proven track record of implementing these requirements on operational nuclear power stations and adapting to evolving regulatory needs. A degree (or equivalent) in a science-related discipline is essential, along with experience leading teams—preferably technical teams—and developing and implementing operational arrangements. Familiarity with working alongside regulators and creating, maintaining, and implementing strategies and plans is also required. It would be advantageous for the you to be chartered with a relevant professional body (or equivalent) and have experience leading other leaders. Knowledge of compliance requirements for a nuclear licensed site is highly desirable, as is a strong understanding of the complexities involved in ensuring operational and regulatory excellence.
