Main Purpose of Role: Undertake mechanical design and engineering work and applies subject matter in-depth knowledge to provide high end technical support. Independent judgment required to some extent in the collection, assembly and preliminary determination of engineering data. Responsibilities: Technical: Undertake mechanical design and engineering including, but not limited to the preparation of specifications, data sheets, calculations and technical requisitions as necessary to fully define the design requirements to the equipment and services required related to piping, to stress analysis, to static and rotating equipment. Carry out full range of stress analyses and investigations, including evaluation, selection of technical options and prepare supporting reports. Undertake site visits as required, to facilitate design work and integration of additions, to gather information and to resolve Project related problems under supervision of senior staff. Perform work in accordance with our group’s ISO 9001 Accredited Quality System, including ISO 14001 Environmental Procedures and ISO 18001 Health and Safety Procedures. Generic: Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with corporate, project and client procedures, as well as QHSE system requirements. Provide technical guidance and direction to the Junior Mechanical Engineers on various tasks allocated to them by the Lead Mechanical Engineer. Organize and prioritize discipline work tasks to ensure maximum efficiency and performance of work in accordance with corporate and project / client procedures. Co-ordination and interfacing with other discipline staff as required by the Lead Mechanical Engineer. Undertake site visits as required to facilitate design work and integration of additions, to gather information and to resolve Project related problems. May provide technical expertise to proposals, providing support on the Marketing Business Development tasks, as appropriate for Stream’s further Business winning. Be aware of project CTRs and activity hours and highlight any potential task overrun to senior staff. Knowledge / Experience (Skills): Experience in the oil and gas industry, with practical exposure to the EPC sector of the oil and gas sector, and experience in working with the relevant codes and standards, (ASTM, API, NACE, IP, BS, etc.) Technical background in the design of pipeline facilities, oil storage facilities, gas process plants and petroleum refineries. Experience in FEED and detailed design, stress analysis (desirable). Experience in design that minimizes environmental impact desirable. Ability to effectively deliver in a team working under pressure to deadlines and be able to prioritize own and Mechanical Engineers workload, if required. Discretion and confidentiality always. Computer literate with all MS Packages, particularly Word and Excel proficient. Sound Communication & Interpersonal skills; good customers service skills. Qualifications: Educated to an engineering degree in a relevant discipline and comprehensive post qualification experience, including time spent on construction sites. Chartered member of IMechE or other equivalent institution.
