Cadent Gas Ltd
Play a critical role in safely bringing new assets to life As a Commissioning Engineer, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that new and modified assets are delivered safely, compliantly, and ready for operation within our London network. You’ll be the bridge between design, construction, and live operation — checking that everything meets the right standards before it's handed over.
This is a hands-on, highly visible role where your technical knowledge, attention to detail, and communication skills will be crucial. You’ll evaluate safety compliance, manage documentation, liaise with stakeholders, and support smooth delivery of complex projects. You’ll also play a key role in process assurance, working closely with other engineering teams to make sure the end product meets operational and regulatory requirements.
Whether it’s reviewing RAMS, verifying build quality, interpreting engineering drawings, or ensuring CDM regulations are applied correctly, this role gives you a unique opportunity to influence both safety and performance on the ground. It’s ideal for someone who understands the importance of getting things right — first time, every time.
Why you’ll love this role:
This is a role where you can take real ownership, ensuring that the assets we bring into operation are safe, future-ready and built to last.
End-to-End Impact – Play a central role from construction through to handover, ensuring technical and operational readiness.
Safety-Led Culture – Work within a team where safety and compliance aren’t just tick boxes — they’re how we operate.
Technical Breadth – Apply your knowledge across drawings, RAMS, data sheets and commissioning procedures.
Collaborative Delivery – Work closely with designers, project teams, and contractors to ensure consistency, quality and clear accountability.
Problem Solving & Improvement – Every site is different. You’ll use your experience to challenge assumptions, spot risks, and improve outcomes. What you’ll bring:
We’re looking for someone who brings a solid technical base, a process-driven mindset, and the confidence to challenge and support colleagues at every stage of delivery.
Strong Technical Foundation – Sound understanding of Process Safety, CDM Regulations (2015), and Quality Management Systems.
Experience with Key Documentation – Confident working with RAMS, engineering drawings, test records, material data sheets and handover packs.
Knowledge of Standards & Regulations – Understanding of key legislation and engineering controls (e.g., PSSR, PSR, EWR, COMAH).
Policy & Procedure Awareness – Familiar with internal engineering policies, commissioning procedures, and design appraisal standards.
Stakeholder Engagement – Able to work closely with internal and external parties, guiding teams to deliver compliant and consistent results.
Attention to Detail – A keen eye for identifying inconsistencies, gaps or risks before assets are commissioned.
Full UK Driving Licence – Essential, as regular travel across our operational footprint is required to carry out site inspections and support teams.
Please note that this position will close on Sunday 20th April, with interviews scheduled shortly after.
