PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: The Commercial Project Manager is to be responsible for the commercial aspects for all stages of the of the project from the initial pre-project/sales phase to handover, execution and close out of the project. Projects ranging from engineering studies to full turnkey projects up to approx. £100 Million and more, in accordance with company guidelines. You will work alongside many different disciplines across the business and customers around the world. MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Project Delivery - During the sales phase of the project you will be part of the team ensuring that you understand, and can begin to shape, the commercial requirements for the project. This involves attending meetings around the commercial contract negotiations, via teams or face to face with the customer. Customer Management – Building strong working relationships with the customer to support the project through at all stages, maintains customer confidence and satisfaction, bringing queries through to the Project Management team as they arise. Risk Management – Identifies and assesses all risk factors during the pre-project and continue to manage those during the project phase. Working with the Project Manager to devise suitable strategies for mitigation and regular reviews the status of risks. Finance Management - Taking an active role in the development of the price; working with the engineering team, Supply Chain (SCM) and Finance and Legal departments. This will also involve Treasury and Tax for the specific project to generate the price with the correct risk and commercial mark ups. Project Execution - Moving to the handover and Execution of the contract, you will work in collaboration with the Project Manager and be responsible for the commercial / financial side of the project. This includes challenging the project team and reporting in the monthly project reviews on the status of the project. COMPETENCIES Knowledge & Skills: Strong communication skills at all levels – the ability to adapt style and approach when working with different stakeholders. An understanding of Project Management, Planning, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Installation Commissioning and Sales. Market awareness – ability to keep pace with current developments including our competitors Knowledge of economics in project business: Established procedures for monitoring and control of financial aspects of project (e.g. project costing and reviewing) Health & Safety: Understanding the Health and Safety implications of work being carried out and the group specific industry regulations and health and safety working practices. An understanding of contract and claims negotiations Self-motivated and proficient in time management IT literate with all department and business system tools, including MS Office Suite and MS Project Intercultural communication. Experience: Commercially aware and deadline / target orientated. Ability to solve problems quickly and positively. Take an active part in the decision making on the project. Customer facing project management experience. Experience of working abroad / worked in teams made up of international members. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Must have current UK Driving License, as well as the right to live and work in the UK and travel internationally without restrictions, possibly at short notice. Working alongside the Projects / Sales team there may be the opportunity to travel to site for face-to-face meetings and additional to travel for meetings with the customer which, dependent on the project type and size, may be longer site secondments. Considering this a sensitivity for intercultural settings and its challenges will be needed.
