Location: This role could be based in either our Wythall or Edinburgh offices with time spent working in the office and at home.

We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as a Senior Trainee Actuary to join our Planning and Forecasting Team within Group Financial Planning, Forecasting & Analysis.

The role:
The Trainee Actuary will support the team in monitoring, managing and reporting the solvency positions in the Phoenix Group Life companies. This role will involve close collaboration with a wide range of teams and colleagues across the whole Group and offers growth, stretch and responsibility to the right individual to really make a difference at the Phoenix Group.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure timely and accurate production of the MI on the solvency and liquidity positions. This will include analysing the outputs from the model and producing draft MI packs together with commentary.
2. Completion of necessary controls and validations to ensure that inputs are accurate and complete.
3. Follow documentation and ensure they are up-to-date and complete.
4. Support the implementation of the agreed framework, including the development and maintenance of Early Warning Indicators (EWI’s).
5. Undertake project work and other tasks such as stress testing to support the development of robust and effective financial reporting.
6. Continually look to enhance processes and procedures to deliver to the quality and timescales required by key stakeholders around the business.
7. Regularly work to defined and tight timescales whilst maintaining professional standards.
8. Ensure compliance with relevant procedures and processes and maintain evidence/audit trail as required.
9. Keep technical & business knowledge up to date in area of expertise.
10. Support and deputise team manager as required.
