Laboratory Technician

This role is based in Killamarsh, Sheffield and is easily accessible by car and local public transport.
This role is for a shift-based Laboratory Technician to work Monday to Friday rotating shift pattern compromising 6.00am – 2.00pm, 2.00pm – 10.00pm and 10.00pm – 6.00am.

The Role
You will play a crucial role in providing accurate and timely chemical analysis to our production team. Using your knowledge and experience you will play an active part identifying areas of improvement while often being the first point of contact in the technical team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality regulations.
2. Identify and suggest improvements for SHEQ processes.
3. Perform chemical analysis using XRF, spark-OES, gas fusion, combustion, and GDMS.
4. Conduct micro-cleanliness examinations with optical microscopy.
5. Prepare samples for analysis and cleanliness checks.
6. Perform scheduled maintenance on instruments and equipment.
7. Maintain a clean and organized workspace through general 5S duties.
8. Monitor and correct instrument calibration drift.
9. Calculate in-process melt additions and report test results.
10. Review and manage external contract analysis.
11. Lead individual improvement projects.
