Social Care Assessor – Occupational Therapy
Permanent and Secondment
We have two opportunities for a Social Care Assessor / Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our fast-paced Occupational Therapy Service at Richmond and Wandsworth Councils.You will be working with older people and younger adults with physical disabilities.You will be working as part of a team that delivers equipment and both minor and major adaptations, education and advice to residents with complex and longer-term needs.You will be someone who shares our values and commitment to improve the lives of our residents with a keen interest to learn and innovate and a commitment to strengths-based practice.You will have the opportunity to positively shape the lives of our residents to live independently in the community.

Secondment
We are also keen to support internal staff who would like to join the team on a secondment basis. The secondment will be for 6-months.In compliance with our secondment policy, all internal applicants for this secondment must seek permission from their current line manager before applying. Failure to do so may result in the secondment not being authorised.
About the Role you will:
* Provide comprehensive assessments of service users functional and social care needs within their home environment to promote independence encompassing a strengths based approach.
* Make recommendations for provision of minor pieces of equipment, minor and major adaptations to promote well-being and independence in accordance with the Care Act 2014.
* Identify eligible needs and provide service users with information and advice and refer onto appropriate services as needed.
* Communicate effectively with service users, family members and their representatives to explain your role and recommendations.
* Maintain excellent time management skills and ability to manage your own caseload in a busy team with a fast throughput of work.
The Social Care Assessor / Occupational Therapy Assistant will be working 36 hours Monday to Friday standard work pattern of 9:00 to 5:00. The role will involve hybrid working including attending the Council offices and client’s residence.
You will have access to our learning and development training and will be expected to develop on Continuing Professional Development (CPD) outcomes.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* Knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and the roles and responsibilities of a Social Services Department.
* An understanding of safeguarding adults and children and of the responsibility to raise safeguarding concerns.
* An understanding of the principles of prevention and enablement.
