More detail about the role An exciting opportunity for an Ophthalmic Technician has arisen for a highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic individual to work within the multi professional Macular team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be required to support the Macular Practitioner team to deliver seamless ophthalmic care to the macular and medical retinal patients. Primarily, providing support in the procedure room for the delivery of intra vitreal injections, obtaining OCT scans and recording visual acuity using the logmar charts. The role also includes acting as the patients advocate and supporting the patient pathway journey. You will work with the Clinical team and head of service to deliver robust clinical care for patients attending the macular service at WEEU Wonford, Heavitree and Community Sites. The team you will be working with a team of dedicated practitioners to delivery the macular treatment service to the local community. Our team consists of band 6 & band 7 practitioners and a team of supportive band 3 macular technicians. Working Pattern: We care for our patients around the clock so we will need you to work a range of shift patterns. These range from short shifts, day shifts between 8am and 8pm and 12.5-hour day and night shifts with an hour break in the ward areas. Please do check this at your interview. Depending on your shift pattern and working hours, you may also receive additional enhancements to your pay.
