The College of Richard Collyer in Horsham, ‘Collyer’s’, is one of the leading sixth form colleges in the country and the no.1 choice for A Levels in West Sussex.
We are looking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic A Level teacher with an outstanding track record of improving high student outcomes to lead the Economics A Level qualification.
Qualifications: Good degree in a relevant subject and teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DET).
Experience: Current or recent experience of teaching A Level Economics or a closely related subject.
Knowledge and Skills: An excellent understanding of Economics and the ability to use digital resources and IT to support teaching and learning.
Personal Qualities: Excellent teamwork and communication skills, flexibility and effective organisation.
Motivation and Expectations: A commitment to high standards, motivating and supporting staff and encouraging the growth and maturing of students. An enthusiasm for teaching and supporting students.
Our Economics A Level is delivered via 4 hours and 20 minutes of lessons per week following the AQA specification. There are approximately 150 students in Year 1 and 140 students in Year 2 taught by a department of three teachers, inclusive of the Head of Economics. The subject is a thriving area of the Faculty of Science – a vibrant community of supportive professionals. The Economics department is well resourced, and all teachers follow unified schemes of work, homework and assessment materials. Staff are proactive in sharing resources for teaching and assessment and contribute fully to the development of the course.
Collyer’s is committed to the professional development of all staff. Staff are encouraged to attend external CPD as well as in-house training events.
Salary Range: On the SFCA salary scale £32,178 (Point 1) to £49,725 (Point 9) + Responsibility Allowance in the range £1,087 – £4,430, depending on experience, for Head of Subject.
