Job Description Job Title: Estimator - Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience (DOE) Our client, a well-established leader in the windows, doors, and glazing industry, is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating within the fenestration industry, particularly with aluminium systems, and a keen attention to detail for delivering precise and competitive quotes. Key Responsibilities: 1. Document Review and Analysis: - Thoroughly review invitation documents, specifications, project details, and drawings to assess if the quotation request aligns with company criteria. - Identify any specific actions required by the specification or additional information needed from architects. 2. Project Scheduling and System Selection: - Schedule out all items to be priced, such as windows, doors, and curtain wall systems. - Select the most suitable system for pricing the project, ensuring that all items in the schedule are accurately accounted for. 3. Technical Calculations and Compliance: - Conduct wind-load calculations and verify the maximum parameters of proposed systems to ensure performance standards are met for the required sizes. 4. Quotation Preparation and Client Coordination: - Document notes throughout the estimation process and include these in the quotation return letter. - Communicate with contractors, clients, and relevant parties to ensure all stakeholders are accurately represented in the quotation. 5. Tender Management and Client Follow-Up: - Record critical dates and follow up with clients to determine the outcome of tenders and gather feedback if the bid is unsuccessful. 6. Data Input and Reporting: - Maintain accurate records and provide thorough reporting on the Sage CRM system. 7. General Duties: - Support the company and line manager by performing other duties as necessary to ensure project success. Personal Specifications: Essential Skills: - Excellent attention to detail with a strong analytical and problem-solving mindset. - Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, with effective organisational and planning skills. - Strong written and verbal communication abilities. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially for data input, reporting, and documentation. - Professional telephone manner and good administrative experience. Preferred Experience: - Familiarity with aluminium fenestration systems.
