Facilities Operations Manager – Burnley Campus
Salary: £41,421 - £47,874 plus excellent benefits
The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is a leading modern University and one of the UK’s largest with a student and staff community approaching 38,000.
The University is about to commence an exciting new phase of our ongoing Estate Strategy, and we are seeking to recruit an experienced and professionally qualified Facilities Operations Manager to join our growing Estates and Campus Services team.
Reporting to the Head of Facilities Management who is based at Preston, you will be the primary point of contact for all estates and facilities management services at our Burnley Campus including security, cleaning, catering, maintenance, caretaking, and on-site health and safety.
Our Burnley Campus is based in East Lancashire and consists of 5 buildings totaling approximately 18,000 square metres (gross floor area), including the Newtown Mill opening in 2025, and Burnley College. The buildings provide teaching, office, social, commercial, and residential accommodation to UCLan staff and students.
Although most of the technical subject matter expertise will be provided by managers and supervisors reporting to you, it is important that you have a full understanding of hard and soft services delivery and the associated compliance.
You will receive technical and management support from the team at the main Preston Campus; however, it is important to note that this role will be expected to take operational decisions at the Burnley Campus on a day-to-day basis, including coordinating the initial estates and facilities management response to incidents and emergencies during evenings and weekends.
Your overarching aim will be to develop and maintain a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and sustainable environment for all who study, work, or live at Burnley Campus, including students, staff, visitors, and partners – contributing to the attraction, recruitment, and retention of students and staff.
You will also have a sound knowledge and understanding of statutory legislation and current best practice relating to estates and facilities management.
Your technical competence, qualifications, and experience are vitally important to this role; however, it will be your leadership style and ability to motivate and engage your team that will make you stand out above other candidates.
Applications should consist of a comprehensive CV (of not more than four pages) and a covering letter (of not more than two pages). Applications should be sent to david.craven@mrgglobal.com.
Closing date for applications is Sunday 9th March 2025.
UCLAN welcomes and celebrates the rich diversity of our students, staff, and our community partners. We recognise that our diversity is our strength and work hard to ensure that equality, diversity, and inclusion are part of everything we do. We are committed to providing an inclusive environment where everyone can feel safe, valued, and able to thrive.
