Job Description:
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our team at our Ashford Common Water Treatment Works.
As the successful candidate, you will be working in a multi-discipline team and will be responsible for carrying out scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimize plant breakdown.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact and you will be actively helping to reduce pollution from our sites.
What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical & Electrical Technician:
* Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
* Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimize plant breakdowns.
* Providing technical advice to the wider team, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and providing training or support for technical trainees if required.
* Using technical equipment such as various pumps and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
Base Location: Ashford Common - TW15 1RU.
Working Pattern: 38 Hours Monday- Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm plus Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
All PPE, tools, van, and fuel card are provided.

* Be a self-motivated individual who can immerse themselves into the team around them, you need to be very disciplined, have the desire to learn from those around you, and have a can-do attitude. This role can be demanding at times but very rewarding too.
* Take ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to understand the problem fully, and identifying the best solution to resolve it the first time.
* Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the team.
* Teamwork – We are one team, and our end goals are the same.
* Proactive – take the lead on recommendations and improvements around the site and communicate effectively.
* Must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
* Knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards.
