Operations Manager at The Bioasis

Anticipated Start Date: 6th January 2025
Contracted Hours: 40 hours per week (Typically Monday – Friday 0900 – 1730 out of season)
Unusual Working Hours: During the season some unsociable hours required, occasional evening/weekend work and other job-related tasks. Overnight duty rota will apply with 1-2 nights per week.
Location: South Devon (Nr. Ivybridge)
Contract: Full-time permanent subject to successfully passing a probationary period of 10 months.
Salary: £35k
Pension: We contribute to staff pensions in line with our obligations under the workplace pension scheme.
Holidays: 25 days holiday + 8 Bank Holidays

About The Bioasis:
The Bioasis exists to ignite planet positive behavioural change in individuals and organisations. We were established in 2020 and launched in 2021 as a new style of immersive outdoor residential programme targeting schools and corporate groups.
About the Role:
The Operations Manager role is growing and evolving and requires a resourceful, organised and highly adaptable individual to lead our operations across three basecamps and a busy warehouse. A key responsibility of this role is to ensure compliance with all health, safety and quality legislation required to deliver outdoor residential/adventure programs in a remote, rural setting.
In-Season Responsibilities:
* Ensure high quality delivery of project management to support the Activities Manager and Instructors to deliver programmes across 3 basecamps.
* Ensuring high quality client care and feedback mechanisms.
* Manage supply chain of consumables, camp equipment and food.
* Act as the lead on-site Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
* Provide critical safety management and incident response.
* Ensure infrastructure is in good working order.
* Manage business expenses and financial records.
* Maintain appropriate record keeping for safeguarding concerns and incidents.
Out of Season Responsibilities:
* Ensure all kit equipment is stored and inventoried appropriately.
* Lead staff operational de-briefs and planning for the following season.
* Ensure adequate staffing and recruitment levels.
* Organising and facilitating staff training.
* Ensure compliance at all times.
* Implement maintenance plans effectively.
Person Specifications:
Essential Criteria:
* Full clean UK Driving License.
* At least 2 years experience in site management or project management, preferably in an outdoors, catering or events setting.
* Demonstrable experience of leading workplace health & safety.
* Experience of working in a food business, preferably in a supervisory role.
* Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a team effectively.
Desirable Criteria:
* IOSH/NEBOSH Workplace H&S Qualification.
* Demonstrable management experience within the Outdoor Pursuits/Outdoor Education/Adventure Travel industry.
* Food Hygiene Level 3.
