The Grants, Risk, Assurance and Fraud team - or GRAFT - is a small, diverse and friendly team of experts that sits within the Finance Directorate in DCMS and was created to provide advice and guidance to ensure the Department and it’s public bodies spend money and manage their risks wisely.
The assurance team work closely with other professional experts within the department such as governance, project delivery, risk management, commercial and finance to support our policy and delivery teams to provide assurance to the Permanent Secretary and DCMS senior management over the adequacy and effectiveness of our internal control framework.
The assurance team also manages the relationship with both internal (GIAA) and National Audit Office value-for-money auditors, and supports functional leads to be compliant with the government functional standards.
As part of GRAFT, you will be reporting directly to the Senior Assurance Manager. Some of your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
* Manage the relationship with National Audit Office VfM team, and Government Internal Audit Agency, including facilitating the progress of audits.
* Support the Head of Assurance and Head of Risk to develop the departmental risk and assurance frameworks and deliver training on these.
* Assisting in the monitoring and assessing directorate’s bespoke risk registers and assurance maps. Conduct reviews of first or second line assurance and collate thematic findings.
* Preparing risk and assurance reports for boards and committees.
* Engage with functional directors to support them in assessing compliance to functional standards.
* Engage with senior managers in the risk reviews and annual directors assurance reviews.
* Work with Private Office to facilitate the department through any PAC hearings including hosting of mock panel sessions.
* Undertake ad-hoc assignments and projects, as needed, to support non-assurance parts of GRAFT.
