Blair West are delighted to be supporting Crafter’s Companion, with the appointment of a Financial Controller. The business is a fast-growing, award-winning international market leader in the arts and craft sector with entities in the UK and US.
Reporting to the CFO, the successful candidate will lead a small team (four) overseeing the development of robust financial systems and controls that are fit for scale. We envisage the successful candidate will be ambitious, yet hands on, able to thrive in a fast-paced SME that serves a global marketplace.
The opportunity:
1. Reporting into the CFO, assuming responsibility for Crafter’s finance team, comprising of a Management Accountant, Business Analyst and transactional colleagues.
2. Establish and embed financial controls that both meet the groups regulatory obligations and support business growth.
3. Timely and accurate completion of group financial reporting, including Board report preparation.
4. Leading the Group audit and regulatory activities, liaising with external audit partners and regulatory authorities as necessary.
5. Member of the group audit committee.
6. Robust cash flow management, forecasting and controls.
7. Augment the understanding of the group's key revenue and cost drivers, facilitating rapid sustainable growth.
8. Transition the team deliverables from a core accounting and reporting function into a value-add, future-focused business partner.
9. In the medium term, supporting the CFO with ad hoc projects including corporate structure, fundraising, and evaluating key business strategies.
You'll be the ideal candidate for this position if you're:
1. A qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACA/ACCA).
2. Experienced in a financial leadership role, with experience on complex accounting matters.
3. Previously experienced from change management or a turnaround situation would be advantageous.
4. Able to implement robust financial controls with strong attention to detail.
5. Able to have a positive outlook, with ability to motivate and drive change.
6. Understanding and have strong knowledge of a consumer product-based business with experience across stock, warehousing and pricing management.
7. Competent in Excel and financial systems.
8. Experienced with NetSuite, would be advantageous.
