EDGE Innovate is currently seeking to recruit a highly capable Purchaser to join our busy Purchasing team.
The post holder will support the Purchasing Department and follow the company’s purchasing strategy in line with the strategic vision of the business.
You will play a key role within the Purchasing Department in delivering a consistent approach towards all sourcing and buying within the business. Driving the agenda for “on time, in full” delivery whilst maintaining best value for money & maximizing cost effectiveness and optimum stock levels tailored to the company’s needs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Purchase goods, raw materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets using an MRP/ERP system.
2. Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations.
3. Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible.
4. Provide input into the development of appropriate formalized purchasing policies, compliance, and procedures across the organization, educating and supporting other departments on the importance of adhering to the standards.
5. Identify discrepancies that may arise regarding stock, ordering, or payment of material, investigating and acting to resolve, ensuring resolution.
6. Formulate and compile reports as required, including but not limited to, supplier performance, cost reductions, and shortages.
7. Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in the recording and maintenance of Bills of Materials and prioritize kitting schedules with Stores.
8. Build relationships with key staff, developing excellent channels of communication to ensure availability of stock on a JIT basis.
9. Provide input to stock reviews, cooperating with the process as necessary.
10. Take ownership for understanding and developing personal product knowledge of products, parts, and services for customers, in order to provide potential and existing customers accurate information in a professional and timely manner.

Essential Criteria
Qualifications & Experience
1. Good standard of education to include English and Maths GCSE Grades C or equivalent;
2. 1-2 years’ experience of working in a purchasing role to include: negotiation with suppliers; commercial understanding and cost breakdown;
3. Proven track record in adding value, reducing costs, and input to business improvements.
Desirable Criteria
1. Previous experience working in a similar role in an engineering environment.
Skills and Competencies
1. Strong and effective communication skills both written and verbal;
2. Well-developed analytical, innovative, and problem-solving abilities;
3. Good organizational, planning, and time management skills;
4. Competency in MS Office applications ie Word, Excel, and Outlook with added experience using MRP/ERP systems.
