The Role We are looking for a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to work with students who require SEMH support. You will play a key role in helping students develop self-regulation, confidence, and resilience, enabling them to access learning and succeed both academically and socially. Main Responsibilities Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs. Implement strategies to promote positive behaviour, emotional well-being, and self-regulation. Work collaboratively with class teachers to adapt learning materials and approaches to meet individual needs. Act as a mentor and role model, building trusting relationships with students. Support students during transitions and challenging situations, promoting a calm and positive environment. Monitor and track students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers. Work alongside SENCOs and other professionals to implement individual education and behaviour support plans. Essential Criteria Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs. Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Empathy, patience, and a nurturing approach. A commitment to promoting the well-being of all students. Desirable Criteria Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Mental Health First Aid). Experience working in a school setting. Knowledge of restorative practices and de-escalation techniques.
