The Role
We are looking for an eager and enthusiastic individual to join our committed Pathogens Laboratory team.
In this role, you’ll report to the Pathogens Team Leader and play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of the laboratory. Your work will involve microbiological testing of samples, sub-culturing broths for pathogen analysis, counting and identifying microorganisms on plates, and performing accurate calculations for test results.

About the Position
* Shift: 40 hours per week, Wednesday - Friday 12:00-23:00 Saturdays 11:00-22:00
* Salary: £24,378
* Location: Chatteris
* Contract: Fixed Term 12-month Contract
The day to day
* Sub-culturing broths for pathogen analysis.
* Counting and identifying microorganisms on enumeration plates.
* Performing calculations for test results and data entry into the LIMS system.
* Assisting with stock control and ensuring work is completed promptly.
* Reading pathogen plates and maintaining high laboratory cleanliness.
The Essentials
* A Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant science subject (desirable).
* The ability to work alone and as part of a team in a busy laboratory.
* A keen eye for detail and the ability to work on own initiative.
* Good communication skills, written and oral.
* Be able to accurately follow written procedures.
* Previous laboratory experience would be an advantage but full training will be provided.
