Women's First Team Coach

City of Peterborough Hockey Club Women’s 1st XI have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced and qualified coach to lead and develop the 1st XI towards their long-term goals.
City of Peterborough Hockey Club has 8 men’s teams and 5 women’s teams, competing in the National and East region leagues. We have a thriving junior section with 200+ members that promotes a family-friendly approach to hockey. We host tournaments, events, and club socials, while promoting sponsorship opportunities for both teams and individual players to encourage the growth and development of the club. We are fortunate enough to own our own pitch and have facilities like few clubs in the area.
The individual is expected to deliver productive training sessions for the Women’s 1st team squad that provide strong technical and tactical guidelines. They should aim to improve all-round, individual, and squad performances.
We expect strong communicational and interpersonal skills to work with an established group of individuals, and we encourage involvement in player development, retention, and recruitment.
The applicant needs to demonstrate excellent organisation, adaptability, and professionalism in order to promote an excelling and approachable environment for all players.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and ambitious hockey coach with a passion for the game and a proven track record of delivering high-quality hockey coaching to further enhance and shape the future of our hockey club working alongside our other established coaches, particularly within the Women’s 2nd team.
Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Plan and deliver training sessions for the 1st team squad twice a week
2. Attend match days at weekends
3. Deliver team tactics for match days with adaptability
4. Help identify leading players and nurture junior players coming through
5. Work with other coaches, captains, and chair of selectors to manage their development towards the Women’s 1st XI
6. Monitor performance and provide individual and team feedback
7. Support Team development
The successful candidate must be available for training sessions two evenings per week and coach our first team squad on Saturday at home and away games.
Required Qualifications:
1. Safeguarding & Protecting Children course
2. Enhanced DBS check
3. Level 2 Hockey Coaching Qualification, or other recognised qualifications
4. First Aid Certificate
5. You must be eligible to work in the UK
This is a paid position with remuneration to be confirmed based upon qualifications, experience, and the final role agreed upon.
The successful candidate will be hired on a fixed term (self-employed) consultancy basis at rates negotiated based on experience, qualification, and level of commitment.
